Art can sit tucked away and unseen for years at a time, either being slowly developed by the artist or forgotten and left to ferment. The Barry Whistler Gallery has examples of both instances from artists Ann Stautberg and Toni LaSelle on display until April 23. Part of an ongoing project she calls her Lifetime Portfolio, Ann Stautberg’s Texas Coast Revisited is a collection of painted black-and-white photographs, spanning four decades of Texas’ coastal scenes. The late Toni LaSelle had a lengthy career that took her from Chicago and New York to parts of Europe, but it’s seven previously un-shown formative paintings that make up her Climate of the Heart on display. The Barry Whistler Gallery is open noon to 5 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-939-0242 or visit barrywhistlergallery.com for details.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: March 12. Continues through April 23, 2011
