We’ve got a long list of questions we’d like to send to “Ask a Mexican,” but we don’t want to look like gabachos. Without going into specifics, most of the questions concern the safety of gringos in certain beachside vacation spots. Though we’d benefit from a cultural excursion, we probably don’t have the money or vacation time to break away on a quixotic trip to the Pacific Coast. However, we won’t have to use our sick days to visit Faith and Devotion: At Home with the Saints, a collection of Catholic-inspired retablos from the 1700s. The Latino Cultural Center, 2600 Live Oak St., has borrowed more than two dozen of the Mexican devotional plates as part of a month-long commemoration of Hispanic Heritage month. The exhibition is on view from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. There is no charge for admission. For more information, call 214-671-0045 or visit dallasculture.org/latinoculturalcenter.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 8. Continues through Oct. 29, 2011
