Remember the old public service commercial that told us our brain was an egg, and then showed the egg in a frying pan, “on drugs?” The metaphor’s pretty far out, man, and we’re not sure we completely understand the message. Though, we have been called eggheads a time or two. We’re not trying to call anyone an egghead nor will we accuse them of being on drugs, but we are in agreement that Salvador Dali was pretty far out. In addition to perhaps being the strangest, he is also heralded as one of the greatest surrealist artists of the 20th century. We don’t know what your brain on drugs would look like, but we can tell you that reality on Dali is pretty mind-bending. Christine Argillet, daughter of Dali’s publisher, will give an informative presentation Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wisby-Smith Fine Arts, 500 Crescent Court, where a collection of his original work will hang through June 5.
