Celebrate Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth’s 10th Annual Modern Dance Festival at the Modern (3200 Darnell St., Fort Worth) this weekend with art, formal concerts, films and, of course, dance. CD/FW’s mantra begins, “We’re NOT the ballet. We fall down … on purpose.” And boy, will that hurt in the Modern’s grand lobby where much of the boogying, twirling and falling down will take place. Kick off this year’s festival with choreography inspired by pieces in the Modern’s permanent collection, dancing as a collage of poetry and movement, and a collaboration between a mother and her 7-year-old daughter. Get there early to enjoy a classy dinner and cocktails at the Modern Café before the dancers kick up their heels. Visit themodern.org or cdfw.org.
