We typically use photography to mark events in our lives, to take photos of our families at holiday get-togethers and birthday parties, but the Sun to Moon Gallery is using photography to mark an event in an entirely different way. The gallery is holding its 10th anniversary celebration with a group exhibition featuring the work of their nine photographers and introducing a 10th yet-unnamed member, as well as 10 new best-of prints to mark the occasion. The gallery’s nine photographers originate from cities all across the United States, such as Alison Shaw of Martha’s Vineyard, Charles Cramer of Santa Clara, California and Alan Ross of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ross, Ansel Adams’ former photographic assistant, will display his recent piece, “Oaks and Shadows, LBJ Ranch,” a large scale gelatin silver print. The exhibition runs Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., through January 7 at the Sun to Moon Gallery, 1515 Levee St. Call 214-745-1199 or visit suntomoon.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 9. Continues through Jan. 7, 2011
