When October rolls around, few things stoke the Halloween fires like a classic Alfred Hitchcock flick paired with a tub full of popcorn. Once again, The Angelika Film Centers of Dallas and Plano make it easy for Hitchcock devotees to flock together at the theater’s popular monthlong celebration known as “Hitchcocktober.” In honoring of the master of suspense and blood-curdling horror, a different Hitchcock film will be featured every Thursday night throughout October. This week’s selection is the Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day version of The Man Who Knew Too Much from 1956, not the earlier 1934 version of this suspense-filled story featuring Peter Lorre. The films roll at 8 p.m. Thursdays at the Angelika Film Center-Dallas, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane, and at 7 p.m. at the Angelika Film Center-Plano, 7205 Bishop Road. The Dallas screenings, cosponsored by Mockingbird Station, are free to the public and will be shown in the outside mezzanine patio of the theater. For regular in-theater “Hitchcocktober” screenings at the Plano location, admission is $6. In coming weeks, expect Rear Window, starring Stewart with Grace Kelly, and Psycho.
