Rodeo season has galloped into North Texas, bringing sweaty bandanas, sturdy cowboys and rope tricks that punctuate the summer air with dusty red plumes. And no matter how much you might think you’re immune to the charms of extreme livestock wrangling, it’s hard to resist the excitement of all that bucking and roping and barrel racing. Dallas gets its chance to cheer on an exhilarating series of rodeo events during the 26th Annual Black Invitational Rodeo on Saturday, at the State Fair Coliseum (1121 First Ave. in Fair Park). The dirt starts flying at 7 p.m. with all the chute fighters, double kickers and hat benders you can handle, plus blues artist Charles Young performs a soulful set while the dust settles. Tickets for the event are $10 for reserved seating and $25 for box seats. Call the box office of the African American Museum at 214-565-9026.
