What does a beautifully landscaped garden full of unique sculptures and a variety of Mother Nature’s trees have in common with a green-colored ogre who loves the swamp and is maybe best friends with a talkative donkey? You. Yes, you. Only if you decide to attend Summer at the Nasher’s Friday Night Films in the Garden. This Friday they’ll be showing the lovable classic Shrek, and it’s free. Who wouldn’t want to witness the underdog saving the princess and winning her love while overcoming obstacles and having various adventures along the way? Like I said before, this event is free, but they’d rather you only bring a blanket and leave all outside food, drink and furniture at home. If you find yourself starving or parched, then swing by the Nasher Cafe by Wolfgang Puck. He won’t be there personally, but his creations will be present. Summer at the Nasher’s screening of Shrek takes place at 9 p.m. this Friday at the Nasher Sculpture Center, 2001 Flora St. For more information, visit summeratthenasher.org.
