The best thing I’ve ever done on vacation is, well, not die. My vacations have included riptides, Mexican taxis and even a Category 4 hurricane, and I figure I’ve used up all my “Avoid Hell’s Gates” passes. So you won’t see me boarding a plane to the Dark Continent to sit in a flimsy Land Rover while 2,000 pounds of angry rhino charges toward me. But if the possibility of death by trampling interests you, check out the 27th Annual Dallas Safari Club Convention and Sporting Expo, Friday through Sunday at Dallas Market Hall, 2100 Stemmons Freeway. Passes are $15 to $35. The convention kicks off Thursday evening with a banquet featuring legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager. Call 972-980-9800 or visit biggame.org.
