The Lord said to Noah, “There’s going to be a floody, floody. Get those mofos out of the muddy, muddy” and so forth. Obedient chap that he is, Noah gathers the animals two by two so if and when everybody drowns in the flood, the animals can do it and make some baby animals. It’s a biblical state of affairs ripe for song. Rodgers and Hammerstein couldn’t have come up with a better plot for a musical.
