The silly time of year when love goes to our heads is upon us. We exit football season, wipe the wing sauce off our mouths and then ante up for all things romance as that most corporate of holidays bears down upon us, drowning us in artificially preserved candy hearts and floral delivery surcharges. What is it about love, in all its messy glory, that makes us do such things? That’s the very topic of Friday’s edition of Viva Dallas Burlesque, titled Amour and positively bursting at the seams with ruminations and interpretations of all those little things that make our hearts go pitter patter. Ruby Joule, Adele Wolf, Iris Le’Mour, Pixie O’Kneel, Vivian Vermouth, and Zaftigg Von Bonbon strip love bare in this epic, bombastic paean to the human heart and all its quirks at 8 p.m. Friday in the historic Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Parkway. Tickets are $20 to $35 and may be purchased at lakewoodtheater.com/tickets.
Fri., Feb. 7, 8 p.m., 2014
