Even those of us who consider ourselves art junkies are guilty of not giving architecture its props. It surrounds us, supports us, inspires us and makes its way into all manner of media, but it’s not talked about in the same terms as sculpture, paintings and photographs. It’s taken for granted. It forms the cityscapes and facades that act as a backdrop to our everyday lives; we’ve become immune to the cantilevers and flying buttresses that make structures the most practical of art forms. The Dallas Architecture Forum seeks to integrate architecture into the artistic discourse and foster discussion of urban planning and design with its lecture series; the latest installment featuring Texas architect Arthur Andersson of Austin’s Andersson-Wise Architects will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Theater (3699 McKinney Ave.). Andersson will discuss collaborative approaches to architecture, emphasizing how such methods can enhance practicality and aesthetics in these essential artistic endeavors.
