Whenever I was bored and hungry during my undergraduate years, I looked for a student art show. These shows provided free entertainment with art and people-watching, and free food and drink, usually in the form of plastic cups of red wine and cheese and fruit plates. For a fun and free evening, come and check out the UNT graduate students art show, Recovery and Reinvention. The show focuses on themes of recovery of identity, of self, or of heritage, as well as the understanding and need of reinvention that is hooked to all great or even moderately good art. The exhibit features various mediums of art so expect to hear and see some thought-provoking things (that are probably unlike anything you’re expecting). The show is free and located at the University of North Texas Art Gallery. Call 940-565-4005 or visit gallery.unt.edu.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 14. Continues through Aug. 15, 2009
