The story of Peter Pan is the literary gift that keeps giving. Over 100 years after J.M. Barrie’s masterpiece was first published, the story of the boy who wouldn’t, couldn’t grow up continues to spawn a legacy of stories and sequels, appropriate for a tale of imagination without bounds. We’ve seen accounts of the pirates, of the lost boys, of the fairies, of the psychological aftermath of Neverland on Wendy, you name it. And yet, it always seems that Barrie left us more to explore. Peter and the Starcatcher continues the Pan folklore by previewing it — the play acts a prequel to the legendary story, explaining how the boy was transformed into a magical paean to childhood in an exhilarating and award-winning production at the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora St. The play runs through Sunday, September 29, with performances at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays ; and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $50 to $150 and may be purchased at tickets.attpac.org.
