Little woo, little hoo, it’s Opening Weekend at Lone Star Park. You know what that means: time to throw a floppy hat on your tiniest jockeys (children, not underwear) and head out to the track for Sunday’s Family Fun Day. If you’re not big on children placing bets, no sweat, there will be tons of age-appropriate activities for your little ones, like pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house and more. Care to dine not-near the stables? Silks Dining Terraces will be open and since they were recently renovated, you’ll get to be the first one to stain up the carpet. General admission is already a low, low $5, but if that doesn’t suit you, bring a Pepsi can: You’ll get in free AND get a free Pepsi. Seems a little tit for tat to me, but hey, I can’t fight science. Reserved seating ranges from $8 to $27. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the first live race begins at 1:35 p.m. Visit lonestarpark.com.
