A lot has changed since 1867. However, one practice left totally unaffected by the changin’ times is the 144-year-old phenomena of putting on a big, floppy, over-the-top hat and gambling on beefed-up horses with silly names running around a track. With the Belmont Stakes—the third and final leg of the Triple Crown—approaching this Saturday, the Library Bar in the Warwick Melrose is hosting Taste of the Triple Crown. Food and drink specials will abound in the hours leading up to the big race, so get there early to toss back a couple Derby-Tinis and Belmont Juleps. The Warwick Melrose Hotel and the rest of their creatively-named drink specials are found at 3015 Oak Lawn Ave. Call 214-224-3152.
