If you were stranded on a desert island, which artworks would you take with you? Easy. Tracy Emin’s My Bed (for sleep and/or bedsheet ropes), Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel (doubles as a wagon to carry coconuts) and Man Ray’s Gift (to fight off dingos and shit). Too literal? Artists Michael Corris and Bret Slater help us expand our minds and creative bandwidth when it comes to the question at hand during the Nasher’s August Gallery Lab, “Castaway Culture.” A new series, Gallery Lab is an “open and informal discussion that promises to be full of surprises and revelations.” Come with questions like: Did the Professor and Mary Anne knock boots? Did Wilson the Volleyball ever forgive Tom Hanks? Does anyone have the CliffsNotes for Lord of the Flies? Kidding — come with questions about art and art history and a passion to learn from two internationally recognized artists. Gallery Lab goes down at the Nasher, starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
