The New York Times best-selling author Kurt Eichenwald will speak at SMU as part of the William J. O’Neil Lecture series, discussing his new book, 500 Days: Secrets and Lies in the Terror Wars.
In 500 Days, Eichenwald, a Vanity Fair contributing writer and Dallas resident, focuses on the 18 months after to 9/11, revealing the “decisions, deceptions and delusions” that led the West into two unpopular wars. According to the The New York Times, it portrays a Bush White House that “suffered a protracted nervous breakdown during that time” — and now Eichenwald comes to speak in Bush’s backyard.
Eichenwald’s lecture will be held in Room 241 in the Umphrey Lee Center, 3300 Dyer St. on the SMU campus at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1. Admission is free. For further information call 214-768-3695.
