Freddie King made it on our recent top 100 Texas songs list a couple times, a testament to just how important and influential the Dallas-born blues guitarist still is some 30 years after his death. This live clip of King in Dallas, 1973, is a high water mark.

This Friday, August 31, KNON‘s Don O. is hosting his annual Freddie King birthday show from 6 to 8p.m., during which he’ll play “some rare alternate takes, acoustic, live recordings, and a few tracks where Freddie accompanies other artists.” Will there be special guests? Guess you’ll have to tune in.
