Tonight, on the eve of Johnny Cash’s birthday, the Lakewood Bar & Grill welcomes audiences to the fourth annual Johnny Cash Bash, a show complete with an assorted mix of local and national acts all paying tribute to the legendary man in black. The five acts on the bill will be performing Johnny Cash cover songs, as well as some original material, all in celebration and remembrance of the icon’s music, birthday and life.
Among those performing? Johnny Cash’s own drummer W.S. “Fluke” Holland, who’ll play alongside his band, the fittingly named W.S. “Fluke” Holland Band. Holland, a proud member of the Tennessee Three, was Cash’s one and only drummer.
Also on the bill tonight: Dallas’ own Johnny Cash, June Carter and the Tennessee Three tribute band, Walkin’ the Line; Forth Worth’s The Dan Family Band; Dallas’ Driftin’ Outlaw Band, and the Justin Kipker Show. The show starts at 7 p.m., and entry costs $12 at the door– or $10 if you come dressed head-to-toe in black–with profits going to Johnny Cash’s favorite charity SOS-USA.
