Seems the touring acts have abandoned our area this evening, but there are locals both old and new ready for your eyes and ears.
Sleepstar at the House of Blues
Richardson’s Sleeperstar has come a
long way in just a few short years. The cute little quintet recently
played in front of 35,000 people at Victory Park during the recent New
Year’s Eve shenanigans, and had a song earn placement on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. And now the guys are putting their pop/rock
weight behind a worthy cause. All proceeds from tonight’s performance
will benefit various AIDS services groups from all over the state.
Lady Killers at the Aardvark in Fort Worth
There
are several dozen bands that use the moniker Lady Killers and a couple
of them have found a modicum of fame in England and Australia. Fort
Worth’s Lady Killers are a very recently formed outfit that purportedly
loves to jam. Fans of the Allman Brothers are encouraged to make the
trek to Cowtown to catch some new kids on the block.
Pete Weise Quartet at Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton
If
jazz is your thing, and you’re looking for an inexpensive night out,
guitarist Pete Weise could help you out on both counts tonight in Denton. Weise leads his
gifted quartet through some tasteful jazz standards and his own equally
strong originals. Weise also teaches guitar all over our area, so if you
like what you hear, be sure to sign the kids up for a lesson or three.
