Well, if you wanna drink with the early-voting winners, they’re here — drinking wine with council members, save for, ya know, Angela Hunt.

Well, there’s a pattern here. Every time I call Carol Reed on election night, she quickly pounces on the phone and sounds jubilant. Reed, who managed Tom Leppert’s mayoral campaign before heading up the Vote No! effort, sounded extremely optimistic about the early vote tallies, though not particularly surprised.

“I expected to be up by around 10 — that’s what I was telling everyone,” she tells Unfair Park.

As Reed and I chatted, I could hear the buzz and murmurs of a winning campaign. People talking excitedly, a few echoes of laughter and the sound of glass clinking. Council member Ron Natinsky even interrupted our conversation to offer Reed a glass of wine.
