The Swiss Avenue Place Apartments, near the intersection with Peak Street, are several blocks and several social rungs away from the ritzy end of the East Dallas boulevard. The cars aren’t as nice, the surrounding homes not as well kept. There’s a lot more crime, too, mostly car break-ins, domestic squabbles and the like.
Still, even on the less glamorous end of Swiss Avenue, people don’t tend to get beaten unconscious. Bryan Bradford, 25, has the unenviable distinction of being the first in a long time to have that happen to him
Details on what led up to the beating are scant. A police report says that he was discovered unconscious on the patio of his apartment at 10:15 a.m. on June 30 with a wound to his head, and that the attack had happened at some point during the previous 11 hours. An unrelated police report Bradford filed two days before shows that his Chevy pickup had been stolen on the night of June 27 and was later recovered.
Bradford remains in critical condition at Baylor. Meanwhile, police are seeking the person or people who attacked him. They issued a press release on Wednesday asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter. Crimestoppers is offering $5,000.

Update at 3:00 p.m.: This post initially said the attack was a shooting based on the original police report, which said that Bradford was found “with a gunshot wound to the head.” Police now say he was assaulted with an unknown object.
