Addison Mayor Joe Chow and the rest of the city council last month awarded the city’s first-ever 30 Years Award to Bill Remington and his son Adam, respectively the owner and manager of Remington’s Seafood Grill (4850 Belt Line Road).
Chow, who is also a restaurateur (as if he had another career choice with that surname), gave the award in an April 14 presentation, part of the city’s effort to honor legacy restaurants.
Bill Remington opened Oyster’s in April 1979, a time when Addison had few restaurants offering fresh seafood. The name changed in 1991 when he expanded the menu to include a much broader variety of seafood, including salmon, lobster and crab.
In honor of the anniversary, the restaurant is rolling back the price on its seafood gumbo to its 1979 price of $1.50 per cup and $2 per bowl…which seems a bit steep, for a recession year. Hell, a Chrysler Cordoba only cost like $6,000.
