What with all the Bible Girl hooplah as of late, I think it’s only timely to break this piece of good news: Sue Ellen’s on Cedar Springs Road has been named the second best gay bar in all of the United States, according to GayBar.com.
I’m pleased as punch. I love it when Dallas, home of pretension, Bible-beating and testosterone-ridden football champs, surprises people with accolades like this. See, world?! We beat San Francisco, New York, Hollywood and Minneapolis. We’re not all walking stereotypes. Take that, Land of 1,000 Lakes.
Sue Ellen’s is the kind of place anyone can feel welcome, whether you’re gay, straight or crooked. Especially with $3 wells on weekend nights. The ladies know just how I like it. –Andrea Grimes
