There aren’t a lot of past and present members of the Bush administration that I care to know anything about. Maybe I’d like to know where Condoleezza Rice got those kickin’ shoes she was sporting on Meet the Press the other day. Or perhaps I’d like to know if Dick Cheney exhibited signs of being a sociopath as a small child. But beyond that, the singular fascinating member of the group has to be Colin Powell, a man who quit his post in the Cabinet shortly after the 2004 election. You know there’s gotta be some good dirt there. Associate editor of The Washington Post Karen DeYoung has spent the past few years researching Powell’s life and legacy in the administration, and while she may not have a definitive answer, she probably knows a thing or two that might provide a clue. She’ll be discussing her book Soldier: The Life of Colin Powell from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday as part of the World Affairs Council DFW Speaker Programs at the Hotel Crescent Court, 400 Crescent Court.
