I admit that golf on television is a super, super drag. But have you ever actually been to a live golf tournament? Even if you don’t know your Tiger from your Lion-O, you can still enjoy yourself as you stroll through a perfectly manicured garden (really, that’s all a golf course is) and marvel at just how far these pro golfers can hit a ball (far more impressive in person). I’m not saying this weekend’s EDS Byron Nelson Championship won’t be a little stuffy—I mean, it’s still golf—but it’s probably a better time than you realize. Plus, last year’s winner, Scot Verplank, is a Dallas native. Oh, and the whole event serves as a fund-raiser for the locally based Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers. So that’s pretty cool. Visit ticketmaster.com to purchase day and week-long passes ($45 and $90, respectively) to the event; visit edsbyronnelsonchampionship.org for more information.
