On Friday, the 40th anniversary of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a commemorative peace concert will be presented at Munger Place United Methodist Church in East Dallas. Called “I’ve been to the mountaintop,” the concert will include performances by the choirs of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and the St. Luke Community United Methodist Church choir and sacred dancers, providing an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of Dr. King as well as the sacrifices made by him and other greats of the American civil rights movement, according to L. Charles Stovall, pastor of Munger Place Methodist. The concert will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the church sanctuary at 5200 Bryan Street. No admission will be charged but organizers suggest a ten dollar donation.
Fri., April 4, 7-9 p.m., 2008
