The reopen date continues to get pushed back for Fort Worth’s Rahr & Sons Brewing Company as the company continues to recover from its February snow-inflicted roof collapse. But the pugnacious brewery isn’t just sitting around waiting until they get the go-ahead to open their doors to the public.
The brewery has unveiled a new logo, bottle labels and packaging along with one particularly interesting label choice revealed Monday on the Rahr website: Brewery founder and President Fritz Rahr provided a picture of his mother, Jody, for Rahr’s Blonde helle lager. Lest you assume this means an image of a frumpy house frau, think again — turns out Mrs. Rahr was a pinup model before Fritz was born.
And if you want a taste of the blonde lager, it will be featured in the second course (Atlantic cod with a white asparagus Blond Lager veloute and turnip puree) of a five-course beer dinner 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Libertine Bar. Tickets are $50 plus tax and, according to a Libertine Bar tweet last night, going fast, with only six remaining. The full menu is after the jump.
First Course; Shaved Fennel Salad with Buffalo Butt Fig & Red Onion Chutney, Arugula and Toasted Pine Nuts tossed in a Red Pepper Vinaigrette.
Second Course; Atlantic Cod with a White Asparagus Blond Lager Veloute and Turnip Puree
Third Course; Blind Salamander English Pale Ale Marinated Bangers & Mash.
Fourth Course; Brisket Tamales 3 ways Traditional, Barbeque & Curry topped with an Ugly Pug Mole Chilli Con Carne with Mexican Rice.Fifth Course; Bannoffee (Banana & Toffee) Pudding Cake served with Summertime Wheat.
