James Dean, the epitome of ’50s cool, raced cars — a hobby that led to his death. Dean had a soft spot for the Porsche Spyder — one shared his nickname “Little Bastard” — which had a sleek, rounded body and eye-popping headlamps. Dean wannabes can glory in mid-century cars from the heyday of rebels without causes at The Invasion Car Show in Deep Ellum. The show is limited to vintage, pre-’64 rides — no lowriders or muscle cars allowed. After car-gazing, take a spin around booths selling art, handmade crafts and other cool stuff. Sponsors Trees and Black Swan Saloon will be open for hungry and thirsty patrons. Trees is also hosting the after-party. The Invasion Car Show is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the lot next to Trees, 2709 Elm St. Visit theinvasioncarshow.com.
