One of my first swings and misses at art was a small painting of a zebra. I’m fairly certain my big sister told me I got the stripes wrong. Black on white, not white on black, or something similarly absurd. Not that it mattered because it was barely recognizable as an animal, looking instead like a striped blob. I’d learn about abstraction sometime later. Now I’m an adult and I leave the art making to the professionals, like Rob MacIntosh, the multidisciplinary artist who captures wildlife and landscape with both paintbrush and photograph. You can see his exhibition, Into the Wild, at Alan Barnes Fine Art (3906 Lemmon Ave. #222) in an opening reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday or through February 13. Admission is free.
