The Internet has brought us so many good things since it became widely available in the 1990s. News is available as it happens. Online learning has made education a possibility for many who only dreamed of it before. And social networking sites have given us all the ability to reconnect with old friends and make new ones as well. Of course, the World Wide Web has also allowed us to connect with parts of humanity that we wish didn’t have the ability to distribute their viewpoints to a global audience. There’s a whole subset of creeps and weirdos that have full reign to post the videos of their 4-year-olds smoking pot and bombard us with poorly rendered “lolcats” all day long. It’s a collective inanity that is pretty frightening when you think about it. Daniel Tosh thinks about it a lot, and the comedian has built a career contemplating the collective stupidity that can only occur thanks to the Internet. His weekly Comedy Central show tosh.0 and its corresponding daily blog looks at the daily barrage of idiocy brought to us online, and his stand-up routine mixes in many of those elements, along with a heavy dose of popular culture and political commentary.
