This weekend is practically a harvest of the arts—a virtual cornucopia of performing and visual arts awaits, freshly reaped and ready to go in all corners of North Texas. One such event, the Cottonwood Art Festival–held in Richardson’s Cottonwood Park, 1321 West Beltline–is a serious bounty of seriously fine art, bringing together more than 240 artists with work in 14 categories (including mixed media, glass, jewelry, leather, drawings, sculpture and just about any medium you can thing of) in a juried show. That means you’re seeing the cream of the crop from a field of about 1400 or so submissions. Browse through the park and stop at concession stands featuring a wide array of tasty bites, or stop off at the ArtStop children’s play area to give your little one a chance to sow the seeds of creativity at the arts and crafts activities. There’ll also be music to liven things up even more throughout the weekend. The Cottonwood Art Festival will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free; visit cottonwoodartfestival.com for more information. JENNIFER DAVIS-LAMM
