The loss of Robin Williams last month was a shocking one, mostly because it’s hard to imagine someone so electric and effervescent being in so much pain. And never was Williams more…well, Williams than in the 1987 Barry Levinson comedy Good Morning Vietnam. The film remains a powerful testament to Williams’ abilities—his freewheeling funniness and kinetic energy pervaded the seriousness of the subject matter while still honoring it. The AT&T Performing Arts Center will present a screening of the film, which established Williams as a Hollywood tour de force, as part of its Sunset Screenings series at Annette Strauss Square, 2403 Flora Street. You’ll have a chance to revisit it—or see it for the first time—as it shows under the stars at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The event is free, though RSVPs are encouraged so you can snag the sweet seats up front. Picnic dinners can be brought in or purchased onsite—and if you’d like to pour one out for Robin Williams, it’s ok to BYOB. Visit attpac.org/series/sunsetscreenings for more.
