I tend to spend New Year’s Eve–Champagne glass in hand–ensconced on the couch, growing increasingly paranoid as Rod Serling introduces weird tales on The Twilight Zone. But I might reconsider my plans this year and head on over to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to ring in 2010 in an equally classic style. That wild and crazy gang with the instruments will be onstage playing polkas, waltzes and other optimistic selections designed to get even the most cynical of concertgoers into a brighter mood for the New Year. The DSO didn’t originate this idea–turns out they swiped it from those damn Europeans, but that doesn’t have to stop us from enjoying it. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. (but get there early if you like hearing the tune-up) at the Meyerson Symphony Center, located at 2301 Flora St. Tickets are $30 to $80.
