The Sound of Music is the pinnacle of musicals filmed during the golden age of Hollywood musicals in the ’60s. The sizzling combination of Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer is impossible to duplicate, but a live performance can be as satisfying as the classic movie. The Artisan Center Theater is presenting The Sound of Music as one of its summer offerings. The Artisan is a theater-in-the-round, meaning the audience surrounds the stage. The performance includes the original music, including “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the lovely “Edelweiss.” See the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic through July 2 at Artisan Center Theater, 420 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst. Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. every night except Wednesday and Sunday. Matinees are at 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $7 to $16. Call 817-284-1200 or visit artisanct.com for reservations.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: May 27. Continues through July 2, 2011
