Have you ever wondered what motivates runners to complete long-distance races? While we aren’t qualified to answer that, a bonus incentive waits at the end of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. It’s a Bret Michaels concert (and something called a beer garden that sounds promising). Several bands will rock the runners along their journey from 13 road-side concert stages leading to the finish line. But if you’re like us and lack the fortitude or desire to train for and complete a 13.1-mile run, you can still see free concerts and support the physical aptitude of others from the comfort and safety of the finish line—beverage and hotdog in-hand. The race begins at 7:55 a.m. on Young Street near City Hall Plaza. Candy Coburn will begin the Finish Line Festival, 1300 Robert B. Cullum Blvd, Fair Park at 9 a.m. with Bret Michaels slotted to start at 11:30 a.m. Concert admission and race spectating is free.
