When it comes to sports, boxing has got to be one of the most intense. Boxers have to maintain a specific weight, train pretty much every day and take quite a beating just to get in the ring. Even if you haven’t been to an actual match, Hollywood has probably given you a pretty good idea of what it’s like to see one. Still haven’t gotten a grasp on it? Check out Rod Sterling’s Requiem for a Heavyweight. The play focuses on the life of a boxer who is forced to retire after a 17-year career. As he struggles to find another job, he feels forced to continue. Requiem for a Heavyweight runs at 8:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through March 19 at the KD Studio Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Freeway. Tickets are $12 to $20. For more information, visit levelgroundarts.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: Feb. 25. Continues through March 19, 2011
