Other Gen X/Yers may remember that classic of our youth, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. You may also remember–for me, they’re positively indelible–the hairy-hoary illustrations of ghosts, ghouls and that uber-spooky black dog that followed people around. Andrea Cote’s black-and-white digital prints of body parts overlain with swirling, feathery lines is essentially a more refined version–less scary, but just as eerie. Cote’s work is on display as part of the PanAmerican ArtProjects exhibit Aperture: The Photographic Opening, through April 25. Equally eerie are Argentine photographer Pablo Soria’s shadowy figures, but Cuban-born Gory’s cityscapes and the Avedon-inspired prints by Dallas’ Laura Wilson provide comforting balance. The gallery (1615 Dragon St.) is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reception will be held Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 214-522-3303 or visit panamericanart.com.
