There’s a vampire for everyone. Sulky teens, poor decision-makers, fashionable dames … there’s a fictional vamp to suck it up for you. And if you’re a citizen of Louisiana, then you got the neck biters in spades. Legend (and premium cable) would have us believe that in all that swampy, sweaty territory, fangs are more plentiful than beads on Bourbon Street. Such is the premise of Fire and Blood, which adds a pointed (and musical) new take on the usual suck-your-blood fare. The play takes place in post-Katrina New Orleans, where the poor have been wiped out by the killer hurricane and the only ones left are the super elite … and the bloodsuckers. Oooh, the allegory. Expect all the lust and blood loss you’d expect from Bram Stoker’s original Dracula — on which this production is based — but you know, all French Quarter-y. Count on checking out the world premiere at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Richland College Fannin Performance Hall, 12800 Abrams Road. Admission is free.
