You have to love the Texas Theatre. One week they give you obscure 35-mm films and the next it’s comedian Pete Holmes, live. Who is this Pete character, you ask? Sit tight, little Holmes-ies, I’m gonna tell you all about him. First and foremost — and probably something he’d prefer to not talk about, but hey, it pays well — he’s the voice of the E*Trade baby. I know, right?! But if you’re looking for legit cred, try this on for size — he hosts a weekly Nerdist Podcast called You Made It Weird where he talks shop (among other things) with fellow comedians like Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, that yellow-toothed Adam Carolla and more. He’s an earnest type with a GIGANTIC smile, but his material is solid. Plus, he’s hosting a talk show this fall so see him before he gets too big and costs too much.
