Is there anything cuter than a children’s theatrical production of a classic fairy tale? Probably not. And of course there’s no better fairy tale than the book of Genesis, which takes flight as a musical this weekend at the Creative Arts Theater and School, 1100 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington. Titled Children of Eden, the production will provide plenty of challenges for its young cast, most notably in the forms of nudity, childbirth, murderous sibling rivalry and extreme old age (any kid that can convincingly play a 969-year-old is undoubtedly Oscar-bound). Throw in complex special effects sequences like growing a woman out of a rib and the flood of Noah and the kids at CATS may have a tiny Waterworld on their hands. Catch Children of Eden 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (and 2:30 p.m. Sunday). Tickets are $15, $10 for children. Call 817-861-CATS or visit creativearts.org.
Fri., May 11, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., May 12, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., May 13, 2:30 p.m.
