Like many people, I’m thoroughly convinced that John Tesh is an alien. Who else but an alien would think to write the whitest theme song in history (“Roundball Rock”) for America’s blackest sport (basketball)? “It just came into my head. So I called my message machine and sang the chorus. Then I called back 30 minutes later and sang the verse,” Tesh has said of the song. As I recall, “Roundball Rock” contains approximately zero words, which means that somewhere out there exists an answering machine tape of John Tesh crudely singing in alien tones. I’m no rocket scientist, but I bet if you drive up to Devil’s Tower, Wyoming, and play the tape over a bitchin’ PA, you’ll end up with a spacecraft full of New Age aliens on your hands. Make contact Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Tickets are $26 to $99. Call 214-692-0203 or visit dallassymphony.com.
