If you’re new to the activity, it might seem scary to “ride the rim.” Maybe you haven’t met many people who are into it. Maybe you’re afraid the rim will be dirty. Maybe you won’t be able to stick through the whole thing. But riding the rim can be fun. Give it a try, and you might just come again and again. After all, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is right in your backyard, relatively speaking, and a bike ride around the property affords you an opportunity to see wolves, cheetahs and rhinos up close. If you’re a beginner, there’s a bike ride at 9 a.m. Saturday (or an intermediate ride at 2 p.m.) at Fossil Rim, 1789 County Road 2009 in Glen Rose. Provide your own bike and helmet. The tour’s $30 and includes a T-shirt and snacks. Visit fossilrim.org.
Sat., Oct. 7, 9 a.m. & 2 p.m.
