There are four things every human should do. Plant a tree, write a poem, be intimate with someone of the same sex and kill a person. At least, that’s the notion Senta has in the Hitchcockian French film, The Bridesmaid. Poor Philippe falls in love with Senta only to find out she’s one egg short of a soufflé. Then the amoral and macabre shenanigans ensue. What exactly do you do when the person you believe to be your soulmate goes and asks you to kill someone? (It’s a question I run into often.) Philippe just chuckles at Senta’s mention but then wonders what’s really going on when she is tied to some missing persons reports around town. At this point, Philippe should probably go back to match.com and reconsider his search criteria. Or run like hell. The Bridesmaid is the latest in the Magnolia at the Modern film series, and this may very well be one of their better selections. In French with English subtitles, The Bridesmaid screens Friday through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Tickets are $7.50 and $5.50 for members.
