The thing about TX/OU weekend is that you have to have a plan. If you don’t find someplace to hang your hat ahead of time, you’ll end up sitting in traffic, pleading with Siri to find you a bar with decent parking while fending off wayward Oklahoma drivers. Luckily, all the work has already been done for Texas fans — set the navigator to find the Burnt Orange Bash at Fashion Industry Gallery (1807 Ross Ave.). This party is the one-stop shop for Texas alums, students and well-wishers during the Red River Shootout: You’ve got libations, live music and your fellow Longhorn enthusiasts all under one roof. Get primed for some serious football as you scoot your boots to tunes from Dallas honky-tonk heroes The King Bucks, and wax nostalgic with the University of Texas Longhorn Singers. Nosh on bites from Dakota’s Steakhouse, Dish, The Hacienda on Henderson and Lockhart Smokehouse, and try to get lucky with a raffle ticket or two. Admission to the Burnt Orange Bash is $100 and includes open bar and free food. Tickets may be purchased at burntorangebash.com.
