It would be journalistically lazy, gratuitous, even, to reduce all of blues legend Johnny Winter‘s accomplishments down to the fact that he was born a cross-eyed albino, but…the man is a cross-eyed albino! The mere percentages against this turn of nature are staggering, but when you factor in the fact that Winter also is a freakishly soulful, ripping guitar player, then you have to consider the man a miracle. Though his best known song is his rock/blues hybrid of Rick Derringer’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Hootchie Koo,” Winter should be known for his genuine blues soul that comes pouring out when he plays his Gibson Firebird. Check him out 8 p.m. Thursday at House of Blues. Tickets are $25 to $35. Call 214-978-BLUE.
