The Stiletto Stampede for a Cure is a 100-yard dash in heels benefiting Komen Dallas. Now clearly, this event is the brainchild of ankle doctors trying to drum up new business, but hey, it’s for a good cause. If you participate, you’ll have a chance to potentially break a world record, too, and even more likely, show how not glamorous you look running in heels. Let’s just say it’s probably going to be less “graceful sprint” and more “cautious bow-legged trot-walk.” So when does all the glory go down? At 6:30 p.m Thursday in between Westchester Drive and Kate Street on Luther Lane. After the race, there will be a p-a-r-t-y at Tootsies, 8300 Preston Road, No. 200, with music, dancing, food and drinks. Tickets are $50 per person, which seems a little steep until you factor in the Stiletto Stampede Commemorative tank, tickets to the post-race celebration and goodie bag brimming with coupons and hopefully a Band-Aid or two. For more information, amble on over to stilettostampede.org.
