Few historical figures are as polarizing as Christopher Columbus. Yeah, he kinda got us here — even though others had discovered this patch of dirt before he did. He was also a dude with S.J.P., or Strong Jerk Potential — taking the victory, enslaving whoever crossed his mighty path and basically sucking up to royalty. But which portions of Columbus’ life are hearsay and which parts are true? Today you can find out as best-selling author Steve Barry breaks down the life of this historically fuzzy “hero.” He’ll be reading from and discussing his new book, The Columbus Affair at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Lane. It fills you in on all of those murky spots of Columbus’ life, such as his education, early life and eventual cause of death.
